Fleece grown in open pasture and unpredictable weather, on the backs of animals that rely on thoughtful care and protection-- stewarded by hardworking ranchers.
Shorn in the spring, before the days grow long and hot. 
Skirted to remove second cuts, vegetable matter, and shit.
Washed free of lanolin-- so essential on the hoof, but too heavy in the mill.
Picked to open the fiber, the combed and carded into its first recognizable form.
Drafted, Spun and Plied in a way that responds to-- and even honors-- the wool itself. 

This all happens before it ever reaches me, your dyer-- who holds the weight of all of this as I approach each skein. 

This yarn carries a story. One of attunement, care and quiet integrity. A story shaped by many hands and a sense of shared responsibility to pay adequate respect to this holy fiber, long before it meets you, maker.

You can feel it-- the life of the flock, the intention of the people, the wildness of the land--held in the very yarn itself.
